Asthma Symptoms Advice
There is an estimated 23.2 million people that suffer from asthma symptoms in the USA, and more than 30% of those are children 0 - 18 years of age. Asthma symptoms are the biggest cause of school absensces in regards to chronic illnesses. Asthma is the reason for nearly 500,000 hospitalisations and 5,000 deaths each year.
Health care costs related to asthma symptoms are more than $14 billion annually. All statistic related to asthma symptoms, health care cost, newly diagnosed people and deaths because of asthma continues to increase yearly.
Asthma symptom treatment is a growing field in the health care community. Because so many people, particularly children, are being diagnosed with the condition, a number of families are looking for innovative asthma symptom treatment programs. In general, asthma treatment can be divided into two categories: long-term control and quick-relief medications.
Long-term control medications must be taken each day as part of asthma symptom treatment. This kind of asthma symptom treatment regimen is primarily designed to control the inflammation of the airways. Quick-relief medications can provide effective asthma treatment by relaxing bronchial smooth muscle, combatting acute asthma attacks.
Even though air quality in general has improved, there are more people than ever living in urban settings where they're overly exposed to the allergens that commonly trigger asthma symptoms - cockroaches, dust mites, mold and secondhand smoke. Add to that the fact that children lead far more sedentary lives than they used to, and spend far more time indoors where they're exposed to allergens, and we can begin to see that one reason asthma is on the rise maybe because children are exposed to the allergens far more often these days.
Asthma symptom treatment involving medication can be taken orally or through inhalation. The most common asthma treatment method involves metered-dose inhalers, or MDIs. However, another popular asthma treatment option is the dry powder inhaler. Nebulizers are a favorite asthma treatment method for children because they're easier to use.
The amount of time you exercise important as it usually takes at least six minutes of continuous exercise to trigger an exercise-induced asthma symptom attack, and exercising for less time than this may not be enough to trigger an attack.
In almost every case it is a good idea to exercise even if you do have asthma symptoms. Some patients notice that their asthma gets worse after exercising, but if you keep your asthma inhaler close by you should be able to overcome this obstacle. Asthma prevention treatments and asthma inhalers can help you reduce any potential side effects of your condition while you are exercising. If you are worried about this issue or if you experienced asthma attacks during exercise in the past, it is a good idea to gradually start exercising and see where you feel comfortable doing it.
